How good is the PKB Sandbag™ for portable workouts?

June 29, 2013

"This is a clever solution for outdoor athletes with limited space during travel... particularly for motorcycle travelers with tight constraints on space." - John Tuitele, Founder of the Strong Clinic

There's this expo every year held in the higher elevations of Flagstaff, Arizona where people from all over the world come to learn, share and explore new ideas in Overlanding.  And what's Overlanding?  Well... only the best kind of travel! ( In my humble opinion :)

Overlanding describes self-reliant adventure travel to remote destinations where the journey is the primary goal.

This includes travel mostly by rugged-terrain capable vehicles, motorcycles and even bicycles, where camping is the intended form of lodging and the journey is the point :)  So Zen.  And so in-the-middle of nowhere!  So how do you train?

Yes, there are pushups, sit-ups, Yoga, suspension trainers... but what about weights.  Ask John Tuitele, founder of the Strong Clinic, and he'll tell you that training to effectively lift and manipulate heavy objects requires more than a lean physic, a PR (Personal Record) in push-ups or eye-popping abs.  What if you drop your 500lb motorcycle in sand or need to haul 30lbs + of water to and from camp?

John focuses on what is commonly referred to as real world training.  Not bicep curls or leg extensions but learning to safely and efficiently use your body to pick up and carry heavy loads.

This is what John had to say about the Portable Kettlebell Sandbag™ after his clinic at the Overland Expo:

"I presented a class to “Overlanders” - people who engage in adventure travel on two and four wheels to remote parts of the planet. One of the goals of the class was to suggest workouts and tools that are portable for use during travel.

The PKB Sandbag is perfect for this application, particularly for motorcycle travelers with tight constraints on space. This is a clever solution for outdoor athletes with limited space during travel. "

I can't tell you how many times I've had people tell me they're taking their PKB to the beach, desert, mountains, camping...

Order your PKB and tell us where and how you train.  We love to hear the stories!
